Meditation Taxonomy

Meditation types are often categorized by focus-orientated traditions e.g. meditation centered on a sound or the breath, or open-presence traditions such as Vipassana which places emphasis on insight and keen observation on bodily sensations. Another way to consider categorizing meditation types is by their experiential results. Some types of meditation aim to reduce stress, while other spiritually motivated practices may have stress reduction as a by product, but have entirely different goals.

In conjuction with building a meditation catalog, this project aims to examine existing and new ideas relating to meditation taxonomy.
